Background: |
| We will be testing this tire on the Honda Foreman 4x4 platform in a regimen involving a lot of challenging trails consisting of mud, clay and snow, followed by some sporting activity in muskeg swamp bog and then heavy utility use involving dirt and snow plowing. Perhaps some agricultural equipment testing seems to suit this application. | |
First Impression: |
| I can't help but noticing this unique aggressive deep lug pattern and smooth quality molding. Looking at this tread you see the combination of a modern paddle design integrated with an alternating row of 3 large knobbie's having one in the middle and one on each side. You also notice how this large deep lug knobby is full depth right over the edge of the wall which should do a good job of biting and moving in the mud. Also the generous spacing between lugs should allow good cleaning in the mud. I consider this tire a primary mud tire by looking at it I don't expect it to ride smoothly on hard pack, but time will tell. | |
Field Test: |
I have now been testing the Duro Buffalo tires for just about a year. I have put many miles on trails, and punished these tires through mud, snow and performed countless grueling Agricultural chores. I have hauled heavy loads and tortured them through sticks and rocks and have not experienced any failure. I have noticed very little wear on them.
I believe I have fully tested these tires for what they were designed to do, and they do it well. These aggressive lug tires pull and paddle through mud and snow like the best of them. Yet they ride quite nice and smooth on the trail. The bias design does a good job of providing a soft, pliable ride over rough terrain. The sturdiness of the 6ply rating assures durability and a confident ride. |
